Ramayana Movie Review: So friends, which actor will play which role in the upcoming Ramayana film? The more difficult question is, what will be the total cost of making this film?
It started with 400-500 crores and then it was declared India’s most expensive film. After this, the cost of both the parts was estimated to be Rs 800 crore.
But as soon as the first introduction of the film was released, its budget directly reached ₹600 crores. But the limit has been crossed now when the budget of the film is being counted not in rupees but in millions of dollars.
The Origin of the Massive Budget
Yes, the total budget of both the upcoming parts of the Ramayana film is said to be $500 million. That means an expenditure of almost ₹4300 crores in Indian rupees. Whoever is calling him fake number one. This is a rumour spread on social media.
They are spreading the rumour of fake news. So brother, this thing has come out from the mouth of none other than the real producer of the film himself and the surprising thing is that he is the sole producer of this film.
There is power in becoming it. So friend, if this expenditure of Rs 4000 crores happened then how did it happen?
Context: Comparing with Other Big-Budget Films
Before solving this puzzle, you should understand the real meaning of this Rs 4000 crore. With this much money, two movies like Avatar Part One can be made. Her budget was around $2 million. Well, even the new part two of Avatar was made in less than this, $350 million.
In the world of superheroes, even the greatest of all time movie Avengers End Game was completed in just $356 million.
Come on, why go that far back? Just a few days ago, Jurassic Park was released and only Rs 1500 crores were spent on its making and my and your everyone’s favourite Superman, his latest movie which was released this week, had $25 million i.e. Rs 1800 crores.
In fact, the budget of the most expensive movie ever made in the history of the world, Star Wars, is said to be less than Ramayana at $450 million.
Why Is Ramayana So Expensive?
Now understand that a film like Ramayana is not just competing with Hollywood but has gone far ahead of it. But will they be able to earn as much as DC does with just expenses?
If Ramayan has to earn the tag of a superhit, then it will have to put the number billion dollars i.e. 88000 crores before its name. Oh my god, isn’t it a bit risky?
Now let’s talk about the matter. Is this budget of 400 to 4000 crores really possible?
Global Release Strategy
Why, how and where will so much money be spent in making the film? When the teaser of the film came out, I had specifically pointed out that it is the subject of history of an Indian film. Still, English was used in the teaser and Hindi and Sanskrit were not used.
Then many people commented and said that this is because the makers want to release Ramayana on a global scale.
From the very beginning, we want to keep the British associated with this film. Global, this is the word that has made Ramayana the most expensive film not only in India but perhaps in the world.
Ramayana will try to reach every corner of the earth. The film will be presented in international markets by big companies like Warner Bros. Not only this, it will be dubbed in the language of probably every country like China, Japan, Korea.

Behind the Scenes: Production Challenges
But if you listened carefully to the interview of the producer of Ramayana, he said that from the time the film started till the time it gets finished, a total of $500 million would have been spent.
It is said that work on Ramayana has been going on for the last 7 years, which was kept hidden from the people. These actors etc. have joined the film just a year or so ago. So many actors do not come for free.
Matching the dates of all these people together for a film requires not money but treasure. Therefore, if we want to calculate Rs 4000 crore, we will have to add a timeline from 2017 to 2027 when Ramayan Part 2 will hit the theatres.
The expenditure for 10 years will be Rs 4000 crore. The company which has won Art Oscars for special effects etc. is owned by the producer of Ramayana and it is being said that for the next two years they will not work on any other international film.
Perhaps apart from Dune Part 3 and Spiderman movie, Ramayana will be the only movie on which VFX and production work will be done 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without stopping.
Addressing Concerns
In fact some people were complaining that the special effects in Ramayana Teaser are not as good as expected. So boss, that was just a raw file on which work will be done for one year and then the real quality will be known on Diwali 2026.
It has become a bit technical, you will get bored too, so think about the amount of money these people have spent on all these things, will the audience be able to understand it and earn billions of dollars in return.

The Real Risk: Will It Recover Costs?
My belief today is the same as it was at the time of the first man. A subject like Ramayana is not run by logic but by magic. Leave aside the budget, VFX, actors etc. Target the emotions.
The film will not run, it will run. Now, to tell you the truth, on whose face have the makers of Ramayana taken this risk of Rs. 4000 crores or have they left everything to the name of Ram.
